Kenny Chalmers
(northwest Calgary
)

I met Peter after a friend with an awesome studio in Calgary played me a recording of several Jazz tunes. I said "Who is this guy, what a great feel, very creative." A meeting was arranged and I agreed to represent his teaching methods in Calgary NW. and further offered my recording studio for any students looking for recording experience. Kenny Chalmers began playing in the mid 60's in a band with his older brother.

The "Warp Factor" opened shows in Edmonton for bands such as the "WHO" and the "CREAM" and Kenny's next band "The Shametree" opened for "LED ZEPPELIN" and "VANILLA FUDGE". He says, "My biggest influences back then were Jon Bonham [Led Zep], Ginger Baker [Cream], Mitch Mitchell [Jimi Hendrix] as well as all the Jazz Greats from the time. I always enjoyed teaching; I loved being busy." Kenny performed in and around Alberta in the 70's in popular dance bands playing mostly funk, disco and R&B while continually studying Jazz. In the early 80's he moved to Vancouver and recorded and performed with many top artists and began composing and producing bands. "I was getting burned out with all the demands on my time so when a musical director from Stage West Theatre in Edmonton offered me a permanent position as a drummer, I moved back, married my high school flame and started teaching and composing again as well as performing a huge variety of shows." Fast forward to 2006: The lure of two grandsons brought Kenny and his wife to Calgary where he operates a recording and teaching studio from his home in Tuscany NW.

Michael Wallace
(southwest Calgary
)

Michael Wallace began playing drums at the age of fifteen. His main sources of instruction have been through the observation of other talented musicians and self-teaching. End to and End was Michael's debut into professional music performance, playing technical punk metal at 17, with artists much older than himself. With the group's breakup, Michael formed Veritas, released blackdark/blackcold in 2003 and toured west coast Canada. At 19 Michael began his teaching career, focusing mainly on bringing music into the lives of young kids. In 2006 he took music education international, studying Indian percussion for 10 months in Kolkata India under the guidance of Pandit Samar Saha. Currently Michael is working with several creative projects that can be found playing regularly around Calgary.
